Originally built in 1942, the old Wolfe County High School saw over 60 years as a educational institution, until its closing in 2005. After sitting vacant nearly a decade, the beloved Wolfe county landmark is now listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and has been transformed into 19 units of mixed-income housing for residents 55 and older.

The Campton School Apartments contain 13 one-bedroom, and 6 two-bedroom units. Sixteen of these units are designated as affordable housing, and includes handicap accessible units. Campton School Apartments also house the new Wolfe County Community Center, which features a full size gymnasium, a stage, state-of-the-art lighting and sound technology, and a concession area. The residents can also enjoy 2 community rooms, fitness center, and an elevator.

Davis Park View involves the new construction of fourteen units of affordable family rental housing. The central purpose of the development is to relocate residents displaced by the Newtown Pike Extension project. AU Associates has entered into partnership with the Lexington Community Land Trust on the project in order to maintain the land as affordable in perpetuity. This project consists of the new construction of two single family homes, two duplexes and two quadplexes. Financial partners include Community Affordable Housing Equity Corporation, Central Bank, Kentucky Housing Corporation and the City of Lexington.

Jenkins School Apartments

Jenkins School is locally significant and listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the largest and finest school to be produced as part of the efforts by Consolidated Coal Company to develop Jenkins, a coal camp, in the coal rich mountains of eastern Kentucky. Jenkins School’s construction in 1912 heralded a dramatic period of coal investment in Jenkins, leading the town to be considered one of the crown jewels of coal towns—Consolidated Coal Company would bring politicians and visitors from all around the United States and abroad to see their accomplishments in this Letcher County settlement. As other Jenkins buildings of this period have been lost to neglect or demolition, Jenkins School and its level of preservation remains as a touchstone to the community’s coal industry heritage. The building was dedicated February 2014.

Consisting of twenty-six affordable housing units for seniors, the Jenkins Senior Citizens Center, and the Letcher County Government Access Television Studio, the adaptive reuse of the historic Jenkins School is the culmination of a decade of work by local preservationists. All homes are accessible by an elevator that serves all levels.

The old Jackson Post Office is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is locally significant as the as the largest and most elaborately detailed building in the City of Jackson from the early twentieth century. It is the finest example of high style design in the local architectural area and is significant in its relation to the Federal Government and the height of Jackson’s rich coal history. It is now preserved and transformed into fourteen affordable housing units for seniors. The building was dedicated in October 2013.

The former Post Office has been carefully and expertly transformed into comfortable apartments which include all modern systems and amenities.
